MIAMI,FL – Miami artist Troy Simmons, in partnership with the Bakehouse Art Complex, was selected as a finalists in the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Knight Arts Challenge. This is the 10th year for the community-wide initiative funding projects that help make art general in Miami.
Simmons' proposal focused on the transformation of the Bakehouse Art Complex's Silos. The metal structures are visible from I-95, Miami's major highway. The commission would include a metal abstract sculpture around the historic structure. The finalists propose a range of projects that use the arts to explore the city’s ever-evolving identity, employ technology and other mediums to energize public places, and create partnerships that connect new audiences with the arts.
