Troy Simmons Open Studio & Baker’s Breakfast


MIAMI, FL: The Bakehouse Art Complex presents its signature Baker’s Breakfast, an opportunity to come break bread with its 60 working resident artists before the art fairs. Artists will share an international breakfast experience for visitors, inspired by the Art Deco bakery building where their studios are housed today.
Guests will have access to exhibitions and open studios on Thursday, December 3rd from 9am to noon. In the Audrey Love Gallery see "Older Than Jesus," and in the Swenson Gallery, "Grupo Anon." Miami Artist Troy Simmons will open the doors of his Art studio during the brunch. Visitors will have the opportunity to have an intimate look inside the artist’s studio and learn more about his new works.
This is a free event, and shuttle service will be provided from the Bakehouse to other art venues in Wynwood. The Bakehouse is located on 561 NW 32nd St, Miami, FL 33127. For more details call (305) 576-2828.

Transforming Ad Space into Public Art: Troy Simmons Teams Up with Save Art Space

 Miami Artist Troy Simmons’ work will be on display in a public art exhibition during Miami Art Week at Art Basel.  Simmons is teaming up with #Saveartspace, a non-profit dedicated to transforming traditional advertising platforms into public art.    

The group exhibition comprises work of 8 local South Florida artists which will be displayed on billboards and bus shelters across the Wynwood Art District.  Curated by Co-founders Travis Rix and Justin Aversano, this is the group’s second public art exhibition, the previous one transforming spaces in Brooklyn, New York.
 
Troy Simmons was born in 1975 in Texas and currently resides in Miami, Florida.  His educational background is in Environmental Sciences and Architecture. Simmons' work is influenced by nature and the Brutalist Architecture movement of the 1950s. He uses concrete, color fields and organic forms to express his position on the coexistence of different entities.  Simmons is represented by JanKossen Contemporary Art (New York/Basel, Switzerland) and is a resident artist at Bakehouse Art Complex in the Wynwood Art District.
Simmons’ more recent exhibitions include: Art Southamptons (2015), Art Paris (2015), The University of Miami Museum Gallery (2015), Boca Museum of Art  (2014), Audrey Love Gallery, Miami, FL (2014).

MIAMI, FL:  South Florida Artist Troy Simmons will participate in Lucky You! , which is the signature fundraising event for Bakehouse Art Complex, Wynwood’s original not-for-profit arts pioneer. All proceeds go toward programming and help ensure a permanent home for artists in Wynwood.
